How to address the critical nurse shortage

Article image for How to address the critical nurse shortage

The Shadow Health and Aged Care Minister Anne Ruston has explained how she believes the shortage of 35,000 nurses should be addressed.

“There was a lot of reputational damage done by the findings of the royal commission,” she told Luke Grant.

“I think we need to have a much more holistic view about how we’re going to deal with overall workforce shortages than these sporadic ad-hoc things.”

Ms Ruston also took a shot at Labor’s promise to place a registered nurse in every aged care home.

“It’s just a classic example of Labor making a promise that they almost certainly wont be able to deliver,” she said.
