How to avoid recycling blunders that send your waste to landfill
The annual Recycling Behaviours Report has shown that Australians can easily get confused by what they can and can’t put in the various coloured recycling bins.
Clean Up Australia Chair, Pip Kiernan, told Deborah Knight that the report showed some good findings, but also pointed out that “We are making a lot of mistakes.”
“It’s a shame when mistakes are made because so much of the material then gets contaminated and goes to landfill, rather than actually being recycled,” said Ms Kiernan.
“We need to make the rules consistent across all states to avoid this,” she said.
