A truck fire has caused kilometres of gridlock on the M5 this morning.
Just after 7am, emergency crews were called to reports of a truck fire on the M5 at Kyeemagh near Bexley Road.
All westbound lanes were closed as crews work to salvage the truck and repair damage to the road’s surface.
Fortunately, the driver is uninjured.
Marg Prendergast, Transport for NSW Coordinator General, told Chris Smith earlier they’re hoping to have the scene cleared for the afternoon peak.
At around 2:30 pm all westbound lanes on the M5 reopened but traffic remains heavy and motorists are advised to allow for extra travel time.
Some buses may be delayed by up to 15 minutes as a result.
