Important message to parents after recent child abductions
A leading child safety campaigner says we need to more alert after two recent child abductions have left many parents fearful.
Last month, Anthony Sampieri allegedly held a seven-year-old girl at knifepoint in the toilets of a Sydney dance studio.
He’s accused of sexually assaulted her for more than half an hour before members of the public intervened.
And just last week, a 26-year-old allegedly lured a seven-year-old girl away from her mother at Westfield North Lakes in Brisbane.
Police believe the father-of-two drove the girl to nearby bushland and raped her before returning her to the shopping centre.
Bravehearts founder Hetty Johnston tells John Stanley we need to be more alert in public places.
“We just can’t live in la-la land.
“We understand these people are in our community and they gather where our children gather.
“And the more chaotic the environment is, the more dangerous it is for our kids.”
