Greg Bearup, A journalist for The Australian, has published shocking evidence about white involvement in the making of Indigenous art, under one of Australia’s most successful arts organisations.

Several Aboriginal painters and former gallery staff have revealed serious allegations that has landed the APY Arts Centre Collective (APYACC) in trouble.

A video shows the white manager of the outback Tjala Arts, which is part of the collective, painting on the canvas of one of Australia’s most celebrated Indigenous painters.

“I interviewed five Indigenous artists and six former gallery staff and they told me that white staff had been painting substantial parts of the paintings,” Greg told Joe Hildebrand.

“This is incredibly offensive and something that needed to be uncovered.”
