Inner West light rail services return tomorrow after major inconveniences

After months of being shut down, Sydney’s Inner West light rail services will resume from tomorrow.

Services with passengers will resume on the L1 Dulwich Hill line from 6 am tomorrow after Transport for NSW completed testing of the borrowed CBD trams.

After cracks were found in all 12 of the Inner West trams in November last year frustration has grown.

Previously it was noted the service would not be running for up to 18 months but transport officials decided to trial

NSW Transport Minister David Elliot has told Mark Levy, “It’s good news… the reality is we’ve been able to reconfigure”.

“I don’t expect it to be too much of an inconvenience from a timetable point of view.”

The Minister has authorised a 30% reduction in fares amid the return of the light rails.

He also confirmed NSW taxpayers will not be footing the bill for the repairs of the light rails: “Taxpayers are not be exposed to that cost of repairs”.
