Invictus Games athletes finally vindicated, three years on
After three years and many ‘cages rattled’, Invictus Games veteran athletes are finally on the brink of having medals placed in their hands.
Last year, 2GB Drive presenter Jim Wilson was horrified to learn the Australian Sports Medals promised to the 2018 Invictus Games participants still hadn’t been awarded.
2017 Australian team co-captain and former commando Peter Rudland has been a vocal leader of the campaign to have the medals delivered, and confirmed a ceremony is to be held next month.
“At this stage, we are working towards the 27th of November at Narrabeen … sports centre.
“We’re waiting on confirmation of the medals coming through, but it’s looking very promising.
“It’s a bit sad that such a simple thing, with bipartisan agreement … for it just to be dragged out [is] very disappointing.”
