Irish music icon Sinéad O’Connor dies aged 56
Irish singer Sinéad O’Connor has died at the age of 56.
The performer rose to fame after recording Nothing Compares 2 U, which became a global hit in 1990, and released 10 studio albums during her career.
Her family released the following statement: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad. Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time”.
O’Connor’s death comes just over a year since her 17 year-old son took his own life.
