Is a dodgy deal to blame for death of the Dapto Dogs?

Organisers of the Dapto dogs are facing allegations they intentionally made the racetrack fail in order to proceed with a secret redevelopment plan.

It’s claimed the Dapto Agricultural and Horticultural Society has been rejecting new members and not promoting races,” according to The Daily Telegraph.

Bosses reportedly worked for months on a masterplan to turn the historic track into a retirement complex, shipping container precinct or industrial park.

On November 6, they announced the track would be closing but Greyhound Racing NSW stepped in and appointed an administrator instead.

The decision is being challenged in the NSW Supreme Court today.

Greyhound Racing NSW CEO Tony Mestrov tells Ray Hadley there’s clear manipulation.

“The fact that they got a PR company in the first place, around secret communications, says something in itself.

“No consultation at all with the local community, nor the participants.”
