Is working from home destroying business?
The question of whether working from home should continue is again being asked as more businesses urge staff to stay out of the office.
The major concern from retail groups is that this will only continue to hurt CBD businesses that rely on office foot traffic.
This week, Telstra and Westpac have both have advised their staff to work from home where possible in an effort to help curb the current high COVID infection rate.
Fleur Brown from the Australian Retailers Association joined Jim Wilson on Drive to comment on the situation.
“It is important to have that traffic for the viability for those business absolutely,” she said.
“We don’t want to see that foot traffic drop off a cliff … at the same time, it’s not a forever thing.”

Infectious Disease Expert at USYD Robert Booy also joined Jim Wilson to talk about how working from home helps flatten the curve.
“What we’re trying to do is … reduce the number of cases, take the pressure off GPs and especially take the pressure off hospitals,” he said.
“Where it’s practical it makes a lot of sense.”
