Is the Government’s plan to revitalise Sydney CBD working?

Article image for Is the Government’s plan to revitalise Sydney CBD working?

With the COVID pandemic hitting the Sydney CBD hard the state government will be issuing vouchers for individuals to spend on Friday’s only.

The $100 vouchers are expected to be made available via the Service NSW app in an attempt to revitalise the Sydney CBD life.

The vouchers will be redeemable at any hospitality or entertainment venue and are expected to be made available to more than 500,000 people.

Night Time Economy Spokesman John Graham believes the situation in the CBD is dire and told Jim Wilson, “We need action now.”

“We need people back in the office, we need support for these businesses and public confidence that the CBD is open.”

With the introduction of the vouchers, John believes it won’t help saying, “That is one of the things that has to happen, but it won’t be enough”.
