‘It’s a disgrace!’: Matt Kean furious over RTBU threatening to disrupt services
NSW Treasurer Matt Kean says the Rail, Tram, and Bus Union (RTBU) are “playing games” amid the latest threat to disrupt services.
The RTBU is refusing to operate the new trains because guards cannot properly see out of them to check platforms.
Employee Relations Minister Damien Tudehope declared on Thursday they will not meet the unions’ demands to address safety concerns with new intercity trains.
Mr Kean told Jim Wilson “the games” need to stop.
“The National Rail Safety Regulator says these trains are safe.
“What is deeply concerning is that the union is demanding that we remove safety equipment designed to keep passengers safe.”

NSW Secretary for the Rail, Tram, and Bus Union Alex Claassens has hit back at the Treasurer’s comments.
Alex Claassens told Jim Wilson the trains are not safe.
“Who are you going to listen to? The thousands of rail workers out there that are saying it’s unsafe? Or a politician?”
