“It’s just madness”: Senator Fraser Anning calls for Australia to ditch Paris Accord
Amid talks of a backbench revolt against the National Energy Guarantee in the Coalition partyroom, Senator Fraser Anning is ramping up his push for Australia to ditch the Paris Accord.
The polarising emission reduction targets at the heart of the NEG are meant to ensure Australia meets its Paris agreements.
But Senator Fraser Anning says we need to follow Trump’s lead and get out altogether.
“Why are we even in the Paris Accord?” remarks Anning.
“We’re becoming more and more a puppet of the United Nations. We’re bowing to their wills all the time. It’s just madness.”
“We should have the cheapest power in the world. We have a massive reserve of good, clean coal. We should be using it like the rest of the world is using it. I don’t know why these greens and lefties think that because we’re not burning it here, if there is a pollution, we’re not polluting somewhere else.”
“We don’t live on the same planet apparently.”
