NSW Transport Minister David Elliott has said he cannot stop the planned bus strikes on Monday due to it being a private enterprise agreement.

Transport Workers Union and the RTBU have plans for a strike on Monday. It will affect bus routes in all of Sydney except the eastern suburbs and lower north shore.

Mr Elliott has said it’s not the government’s responsibility and they can’t interfere due to the agreement.

“They’ve been franchised.

“We cannot as a government necessarily expose the taxpayers to any extra burden because a private company and a union have an enterprise agreement which there in a dispute over.”
