James became a quadriplegic at 29, what he did next is unbelievable

Article image for James became a quadriplegic at 29, what he did next is unbelievable

James Gribble had it all and then lost it in an instant, his life since has been inspiring to say the least.

10 years ago James travelled to Africa hoping to hook the elusive and rare tiger fish, but he never got the chance.

The night before his fishing trip James blacked out and fell off a stool onto hard sand, breaking his neck and changing his life forever.

James is now a quadriplegic but has been using his experience to make a difference through his company Empower Golf, which promotes golf for Australians of all abilities.

James tells Alan Jones he’s worked hard to get to where he is today.

“You don’t really know what the outcome’s going to be. So you’ve really got to throw everything you’ve got at it.

“I’ve been one of the lucky ones.”

Now, all these years later, he’s decided to return to Africa with unfinished business to attend to.

“One of my ultimate goals…was to go back and get this tigerfish that I never had the opportunity to catch.”

Along for the ride is a documentary crew, recording this uplifting account of a man confronting huge challenges with grace, a killer smile and a wicked sense of humor.
