Job fair set for Sydney Airport in an attempt to fill 5,000 jobs in three weeks
Sydney Airport is racing to fill 5,000 jobs in three weeks to avoid further travel chaos.
During the Easter period, travellers were queuing for hours as understaffed security and check-in area staff struggled to handle the mass number of people.
Hence, flights were delayed or cancelled due to the mayhem prompting an apology from Qantas Chief Executive Alan Joyce and Sydney Airport CEO Geoff Culbert.
In an effort to not repeat April’s travel woes, the airport plans to host a job fair from 10am to 4pm on June 16.
Representatives of more than 40 of the largest companies at the airport will be on hand to meet applicants and answer any job questions.
Sydney Airport CEO Geoff Culbert told Jim Wilson, some companies will be ready to hire on the spot.
