Anthony Albanese has announced the new ambassador to the United States.

Former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd will start in the coveted role early next year.

Former Australian Ambassador to the US Joe Hockey told Luke Grant he thinks it’s a good appointment.

“When he wants to be, Kevin Rudd can be very diplomatic.

“He will certainly be able to get his foot in the door in Washington DC after being Prime Minister of Australia.”
