Prime Minister Scott Morrison looks set to lead the Coalition to a third term in government.

The Australian Liberal Party is set to defy all opinion polls which suggested the Labor Party would be in the lead.

61 per cent of the votes have been counted with the Coalition gaining 75 seats, Labor 66.

Peter Dutton won his seat of Dickson while former prime minister Tony Abbott lost his seat of Warringah to Independent Zali Steggall.

Josh Frydenberg has kept his seat of Kooyong and tells Neil Mitchell he is confident in the results.

“There’s still postal votes to be counted and we’re very confident that those numbers will come our way.”
