Kindergarten kids to receive cyber safety training

Article image for Kindergarten kids to receive cyber safety training

Children as young as four will be taught about how to be safe on the internet.

Australian Federal Police have designed the lessons which will warn children about talking to strangers and posting explicit images online.

Robyn Treyvaud, founder of Cyber Safe Kids, tells Ben Fordham it’s never too young to start cyber education.

“We’ve got very young children on parents’ devices often playing games or accessing websites that mum and dad wouldn’t even know that they’re using.

“60% of Australian parents aren’t monitoringĀ their children’s online activities and I find that quite disturbing.

“More sinister, I think, is many of theĀ apps and the games and the websites young children are accessing have direct message functions.

“I would be hovering just to make sure the children are safe.”
