Labor warns of ‘unaffordable’ tolls as WestConnex privatised
NSW Labor leader Chris Minns is warning tolls will rise after the NSW government sold off ownership of WestConnex.
Transurban offered more than $11 billion for the 49 per cent of Sydney’s WestConnex project it didn’t already own.
Mr Minns told Chris Smith tolls will increase at least four per cent each year for the next 20 years.
“Previous toll roads had increases in line with inflation, this is double the rate of inflation. I don’t think this is affordable by anybody!
“I’m suggesting this was always designed to be sold off.”
