Late cricket great Shane Warne recognised in Queen’s birthday honours
Australian Cricket legend Shane Warne has been recognised in this year’s Queen’s birthday honours list.
The ‘Spin King’ has been posthumously appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia for his distinguished service to cricket, for being a role model and for his charitable initiatives and philanthropic contributions.
The former Test Spinner died from a heart attack in March and is joined by the retired former world No 1 tennis player, Ash Barty, in being honoured with an AO.
Brother of Shane, Jason Warne, told Ben Fordham it’s the biggest honour Shane could have.
“The way he has been honoured is truly amazing.
“This is one of the biggest honours you can have.”
