Latham: ‘This bloke Di Natale has completely and utterly lost the plot’

Greens Leader Richard Di Natale has doubled down after linking the Tathra fires to the government’s inaction on climate change.

During Senate Question Time he told the Leader of the Government in the Senate Mathias Cormann Tathra fire victims “pleaded” with him to make the connection between climate change and the bushfires.

Mark Latham has called him out, slamming it as “lunacy”.

“There’s a lunacy here, where people are suffering in that township of Tathra on the south coast, and he’s trying to score political points with a fundamentalist, almost religious, view about climate change.”

“This bloke Di Natale has completely and utterly lost the plot,” he tells Ben Fordham.

On the raging turf war between the Rural Fire Service and their counterparts Fire & Rescue NSW over the Tathra fire, Mark says there is more to the story.

“It goes beyond a turf war.

“We’re talking about culture here and ingrained distrust.

“There’s a basic distrust between the professional and volunteer firefighting service.”
