‘The plan hasn’t failed’: Lee Hagipantelis backs future success for Tigers
Wests Tigers Chairman Lee Hagipantelis is adamant the club’s five-year coaching plan hasn’t failed after it was announced Tim Sheens would stand down from club at the end of the year.
As part of the initial five-year plan, Sheens was to be the head coach for two seasons before club legend Benji Marshall would take over in 2025, with Sheens then reverting back to a Head of Football role.
That’s now been accelerated with Marshall to be the head coach from 2024 and Hagipantelis told The Continuous Call Team he’s confident Marshall isn’t being thrown into the deep end.
“The plan hasn’t failed,” Hagipantelis said.
“In fact it’s being fulfilled, it’s being expedited.
“It was expedited at Tim’s instigation within the last week or so, when his manager reached out to us about reconfiguring the coaching structure for 2024 and the discussions were pursued from that.”
