Australia’s most loved comedian and performer Barry Humphries is launching a new Australian show, Barry Humphries: The Man Behind the Mask.

Speaking with 2GB’s Alan Jones, Humphries says he’ll reveal the man behind the clown for the very first time.

“I’ll be discussing aspects of my life that I haven’t ever dared put on paper. I think we’ll have to have a trained nurse sitting on the stage to treat members of the audience for shock.”

The intimate and confessional show will have a little help from Humphries’ revered characters Dame Edna Everage, Sir Les Paterson and Sandy Stone.

“Oh Edna is going to make an appearance, but as a sort of ghost. She’s not the ghost of someone who’s died, so Torres Strait Islanders are going to love this show.”
