The NSW Treasurer is expected to announce $15 million for spinal research in the state budget, making it the largest contribution to the cause in 25 years.

Studio 10 co-host Kerri-Anne Kennerley begged Premier Gladys Berejiklian for the funding at a moment she admits was “not appropriate”.

She approached the Premier at Concord Golf Club late last year, which led to a series of meetings with SpinalCure Australia.

Ever since her husband suffered a fall that led to quadriplegia, Kerri-Anne Kennerley has been lobbying for more funding.

She tells Deborah Knight they are on the brink of a cure and welcome the support.

“At the end of the day, let’s get people walking.

“That’s the miracle we want and need and we are on the brink of it.

“This will have ripple effects in so many other areas.”
