Hawkesbury City Council mayor Patrick Connolly is recovering in hospital after he was stabbed in a home invasion.

There are reports five to six men had forced their way into the house on Porpoise Crescent, Bligh Park after midnight on Monday.

Mr Connolly suffered a stab wound to his left arm during a home invasion police believe to have been a case of mistaken identity.

Liberal candidate for Macquarie Sarah Richards told Ben Fordham she spoke to the Mayor after the incident.

“Even in that state, he was still concerned with his job and looking after the community.”

She says the family has a “long road ahead”.

“A couple of his kids saw that and his wife was there.”
