A newly-elected Liberal MP has been forced to defend herself after critics attempted to smear her with photos from her modelling days.

MP for Hawkesbury Robyn Preston, who will deliver her maiden speech to NSW parliament today, posed nude for Penthouse magazine when she was 22-years-old.

Her opponents have continuously tried to use the photos against her, but she tells Ben Fordham she isn’t ashamed of her past.

“It was 39 years ago and I just can’t believe that still, I’m having to discuss it now.

“Don’t you want people in politics that have got some great life skills and some wisdom they’ve clocked up with that? I mean you just don’t want someone with a narrow vision on life.

“All these things that I’ve been involved in in my career, in my work, in my volunteering, I think that makes a healthier person when coming to make decisions on legislation.”
