Lidia Thorpe slams Anthony Albanese as she blames PM for neo-Nazi threats
Outspoken Independent senator Lidia Thorpe has given one of the most astonishing press conferences of the referendum debate, slamming neo-Nazi death threats made against her and putting blame on the Prime Minister.
Thorpe has been the face of the progressive ‘No’ vote in the referendum, with her consistently calling for a treaty before a Voice is enshrined into the constitution. Consistently targeted by death threats, she responded to one in particular from an anonymous neo-Nazi online.
Thorpe said Anthony Albanese is to blame for the fascist threats against her, in an outburst she said Albanese “wants” her to be a victim of abuse by neo-Nazis.
“The Prime Minister knows exactly what he’s doing, he wants the f*cking fascists to come out and get me… that’s what he wants,” an outraged Thorpe told the press pack in Melbourne.
