The managing director of Luna Park says a recent court ruling puts the long-term future of the theme park in doubt.

The Land and Environment Court has ruled the park must submit a development application process every time it moves or replaces rides.

Park Managing Director Peter Hearne tells Chris Smith the ruling relates to the noise and lighting, which affects everything down to the current ice skating rink.

“We’re now sitting here with a lot of uncertainty.

“If we had to do a further development application every time we wanted to bring in a ride or amusement… we’re looking at not only the cost and the disruption but at least nine to 12 months to get it approved.”
