Lyne MP David Gillespie eyes Nationals leadership
Federal MP David Gillespie has thrown his hat in the ring to take on the role as the leader of the Nationals.
The Lyne MP tells Ben Fordham he believes he can step up and he has the experience to lead the party.
It comes after Barnaby Joyce resigned today following news of his affair with a former staff member.
“I want to publicly thank Barnaby for the fantastic job he has done as our party leader,” he says.
“I want to continue his legacy.”
Another Nationals MP, the member for Riverina Michael McCormack, has also put his hand up.
“We’ve got so many people who capable.”
