Man barricades himself inside unit after stabbing neighbour to death, North Parramatta
A man has been arrested after allegedly stabbing his neighbour to death during a fight in Sydney’s west.
A large crime scene has been established at a townhouse complex on Gladstone Street at North Parramatta.
Just before 9pm on Thursday, emergency services were called to the scene following reports two men were fighting.
Neighbours have told Police Reporter Alice Hogg they heard the man screaming out, “help me, help me”.
When police arrived they found a 45-year-old man with stab wounds to his back and neck.
Officers performed CPR but he was eventually pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.
About an hour after arriving, police tried to speak with a 35-year-old man at a unit on the same street.
He allegedly refused to leave the property and a perimeter was established.
Negotiations continued until 2.30am when the man willingly surrendered himself.
He’s been taken to Westmead Hospital under police guard for treatment to an injury suffered during the fight.
The Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death.
