Man charged over horrific assault of a toddler
Charges have been laid against a man over the horrific assault of a toddler in Sydney’s south-west.
Emergency services were called to a unit on DeWitt Street at Bankstown just after 11pm on Saturday, following reports a child had been injured.
They found an 18-month-old boy with serious head injuries and rushed him to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
The child was in a serious condition while detectives from the Child Abuse Squad began investigating.
Yesterday officers arrested a 20-year-old man over the alleged attack.
He’s now been charged with multiple counts of assault and causing grievous bodily harm with intent and been refused bail.
He’ll face Bankstown Local Court today.
