A 35-year-old man has been charged with sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl he met on social media in the north of NSW.

The man was arrested at a home in Armidale on Thursday, after detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad received reports he had sexually abused a teenage girl.

Police allege the man offered the girl money and drugs for sex.

He’s been charged with seven offences, including performing a body piercing on the nipples of a child, producing child abuse material, and aggravated sexual assault.

After executing a search warrant on the Armidale property, police seized several items including drug paraphernalia and electronic storage devices.

The man was refused bail to appear at Armidale Local Court today.
