A man has died after being hit by a train near Wollongong.

Emergency services were called to Fairy Meadow railway station just before 4pm.

One boy was struck by a train and died at the scene.

300 passengers have been evacuated off the train.

A crime scene has been established.

NSW Ambulance Inspector Norm Rees tells Karl Stefanovic the death was an accident.

“It’s definitely misadventure and unfortunately this guy paid the ultimate price.”
