Man shot by police allegedly planned to attack officers at his home first
It’s believed the man shot by police at Queanbeyan, south-east of Canberra, had previously called officers to lure them to his home in an alleged attempted attack.
Ray Hadley reveals police will allege the man summoned officers at Queanbeyan to his home on Saturday where he had an arsenal of weapons.
It’s believed the man wanted to lure police to go to his home so he could fire shots at them.
When police did not attend the man’s home, he headed into the main part of town and shot into an empty police car at Monaro Street.
After a number of shots were allegedly fired towards officers, but the man was then shot by police.
“There’s no doubt had this happened at a different time and different place, people would’ve been killed by this alleged lunatic,” says Ray.
Police tell Ray the involved officer “saved lives through his brave, selfless actions”.
“I don’t know the officer’s name but my gee mate, and to your female companion, the other officer, God bless you. Because we could’ve been talking about people, multiple people, being shot, including your fellow officers.”
