Both NSW and Queensland surf life savers will have to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Surf Life Saving NSW CEO Steven Pearce told Chris Smith it’s been a divisive decision, but a necessary one to protect people.

“Not every person has to be mandatorily vaccinated, it’s for those front line roles.

“We do not want to lose volunteers … we’ll be as flexible as possible, but at the end of the ay we really do have to ensure the health and safety of our people on the beach.”
