Mark Taylor pays tribute to ‘three great gentleman’ of Australian cricket
The Australian cricket fraternity has lost three of its brotherhood over the weekend; Alan Davidson, aged 92, Ashley Mallett, aged 76 and Peter Philpott, aged 86.
Former cricket captain Mark ‘Tubby’ Taylor paid tribute to the “three great gentlemen of the game”, highlighting their crowning achievements.
The death of Davidson is “a great loss for cricket”, he told Bill Woods.
“Terrific fella: obviously a great cricketer, but also a gentleman.
“Ashley was also a fine gentleman … the quiet guy; stood in the gully, caught everything that moved.
“Percy … also did a lot for cricket post his playing days.”
