Milat’s family ignored as notorious serial killer’s final wish denied
The government did not consult Ivan Milat’s family before using the notorious serial killer’s prison fund to pay for his cremation.
The NSW government had previously insisted it would not bow down to Milat’s final wish and have the taxpayer pay for his funeral.
Instead, his very own prison account was used to pay for the cremation of the body, despite the family’s push to have the state of NSW pay for a funeral.
Corrections Minister Anthony Roberts tells Karl Stefanovic he hadn’t consulted the Milat family on the decision.
“I wanted to ensure none of his last wishes or demands were met.
“Milat’s own funds from years of sweeping floors in Goulburn Supermax prison is how he finally paid for his own disposal.”
