Minister slams union propaganda ‘stunt’ in schools
Students could be bombarded with union propaganda in classrooms following a move by a “militant” union.
Queensland’s Teachers’ Union has vowed to splash the Eureka Stockade flag across schools to stand in solidarity with the CFMEU.
This comes as a retaliation against the federal construction watchdog, the Australian Building and Construction Commission, in January banning logos, including the Eureka Stockade flag, from construction sites.
Education Minister Simon Birmingham tells Ben Fordham the Teachers’ Union is letting their members down with these “stunts”.
“People would rightly be wondering what on earth the Teachers’ Union’s priorities are when this is the type of stuff they come up with.
“Classrooms are learning environments, they’re not for politicising the students who are there.”

Rowan Dean tells Chris Smith the move is one we’ve seen before.
“What we’re seeing Chris, is the very effective methods that we used in the same-sex marriage debate. That bloody rainbow flag turned up everywhere, on kids’ lunchboxes, every classroom was plastered with it.
“It’s the most simple, basic propaganda.”
