Millers Point residents want Barangaroo plans to be taken to the IPC
A reprsentitive of Millers Point residents is calling for plans for Central Barangaroo be taken to the Independent Planning Commission of NSW.
Modified plans for the middle section of Barangaroo between Crown Sydney and Barangaroo Reserve will see “eye soring” changes.
It includes a 20-storey building in the middle of it that the National Trust has called “shocking”.
The design will ruin the view both ways to historic Miller’s Point and Observatory Hill and the other way to Anzac Bridge and other inner western suburbs.
The proposal also doubles the above-ground gross floor area of Central Barangaroo, increases the building heights on all three blocks and reduces the size of Hickson Park directly behind Crown.
“I’m not anti development and we need housing but come on why would you build a new precinct at Barangaroo and have this shocker of an eye sore stuck right in the middle of it disrupting iconic Sydney views?” Jim said.
Bernard Kelly from Millers Point Residents Action Group told Jim Wilson the plans are “out of this world”.
“We have 80 reasons why this is a bad idea,” he said.
“This needs full transparency.”
