Minister blasts ‘public shaming’ of Gladys Berejiklian amid rumoured Canberra tilt
Support for Gladys Berejiklian to run for a federal seat is growing, with another Liberal MP joining the chorus of praise.
Ms Berejiklian is being courted to nominate for the seat of Warringah in the 2022 federal election.
Environment Minister and MP for Farrer Sussan Ley told Deborah Knight she would “absolutely warmly welcome” the former NSW premier as a colleague.
“She’d be incredibly welcome, and from my perspective as a woman in the Liberal Party it would be fabulous to have Gladys.”
Ms Ley criticised what her constituents saw as a “gender aspect” to her appearance at ICAC, in which she was subjected to “arduous and intimate” questioning.
“The public shaming of Gladys was not well-received by the people I represent.
“We would welcome her whenever she puts her hand up.”
