The Service NSW vaccine passport should be ready in “weeks” according to the customer service minister Victor Dominello.

However, it is not going to be ready in time for Sydney’s reopening on Monday, instead real life trials are still needed in regional NSW to ensure the privacy of its users.

“At this stage the closed pilot … (with) up to 500 people is in the regions next week, and that way, the following Monday, hoping for (it to be ready) for the rest of the state,” he told Jim Wilson on 2GB Drive.

“We’ve got to get the privacy and security settings in place, we’re not going to take any shortcuts on that.

“And we only just got the data from the Feds about five or six days ago, so we’re moving at pace, New South Wales will be the first state to do this.”
