Minister rejects suggestions she should have travelled to the Solomons Islands
Foreign Minister Marise Payne has rejected claims that she personally should have been present at the Solomon Islands.
Australia sent the Minister for the Pacific Zed Seselja instead and Ms Payne told Jim Wilson it wasn’t appropriate to be there at the same time with US counterparts.
“We have ensured that we have engaged extensively across government.”
“Ultimately the countries of our region and abroad make their own sovereign decisions.”
