Mobile speed cameras have been ordered out of towns being evacuated due to floods.

Federal Member for Riverina Michael McCormack raised concerns about a mobile speed camera on Fernleigh Road in Wagga Wagga.

The former Deputy Prime Minister says people who have been evacuated due to flooding shouldn’t have to worry about the camera.

Appreciate road safety is paramount and no-one should break the law, but you’d think, today of all days, those running mobile speed cameras could lay off given the fact many desperate locals are rushing about evacuating North Wagga and picking up sandbags to protect their homes. pic.twitter.com/R7f9ymnaEp

Minister for Regional Roads Sam Farraway joined Deborah Knight after being told about the camera, and says it has been shut down.

“Fines will be waived for anyone who has been pinged during the evacuation period.”
