Cricketer Moises Henriques has publicly detailed his battle with depression, urging others to reach out for help as well.

From a young age, Henriques has been in the public spotlight, touted as one of the best young talents in the country.

And he delivered. Time and time again.

At 22-years-old he was named captain of New South Wales, going on to play for Australia.

On his Test debut he made 68 and 81 and cemented the start of an enormously successful career.

On Christmas Eve last year, it all came crashing down.

As detailed by The Australian, the simple task of changing a barbeque gas bottle made him freeze and brought him to tears.

Years of depression and anxiety became too much and he Henriques knew he needed help.

The 31-year-old tells Alan Jones a huge turning point was recognising he needed help.

“At the time I was going through the darkest days of my depression I felt like the pressure and stress… like I couldn’t get out of bed in the morning.

“Once I made the decision to say, ‘you know what I really want change, I need change’, I think that was the biggest step for me.”
