Pre-poll voting has officially opened for those who won’t make it to a polling centre on March 23.

Early polls will close at exactly 6pm on March 22, the night before election day.

Electoral Commissioner John Schmidt tells Ray Hadley although the majority of people will vote on election day, the pre-poll numbers are rising.

“The figure has been going up… all across Australia, so we’re looking at somewhere between 30 and 40 (per cent).”
