Mother who lost her son distraught at plans for Bali bombing site
A mother who lost her son in the Bali bombings has been left devastated after authorities approved plans to build a restaurant on the bombing site.
202 people were killed at the Sari Club in 2002, but the site is now set to be turned into a five-storey complex, despite promises to turn the area into a peace park.
Sandra Thompson lost her son in the bombings and tells Chris Smith “they’ve broken a promise”.
“They guaranteed us that no building would be built on that site.
“Something’s not right… it’s happened so quickly.”
