NSW Independent MP Alex Greenwich and Labor MP Greg Donnelly have debated assisted dying legislation on Ben Fordham Live.

The draft bill has been cleared for debate in the upper house.

Mr Donnelly has spoken out against the bill, telling Ben Fordham, “As a civilised society we don’t help people commit suicide, nor do we kill them.”

But the architect of the bill, Alex Greenwich, said that’s not the purpose of the bill.

“It’s critical we do not conflate a suicide with voluntary assisted dying. What we’re talking about with this reform is people who are already dying.”
