Former Deputy Prime Minister Tim Fischer is continuing his push to posthumously promote Australian war hero Sir John Monash, saying it’s “never too late to correct a wrong”.

The government has sided with military leaders who are lobbying against the elevation of Sir Monash to field marshal, the highest rank in the Australian Army.

Mr Fischer tells Ray Hadley he’s “galvanised” by the decision.

“Cop this. From the 11th of November (1918)… he received zero Australian government awards for the rest of his life.

“Absolutely zero.

“I think it’s never too late to correct a wrong for which there is precedent amongst others.”
