New program helping musos tour our regions
Music NSW has just announced a new program aiming to help musicians take their work to overlooked corners of the state.
The Regional Touring Network will aid artists with the challenging aspects of regional touring like booking venues, promoting and finding accommodation.
Musician and Regional Music Officer for Music NSW, Michael Simic joined Deborah Knight on Afternoons.
“Bums on seats is essential – there’s no point hitting the road, turning up in a new town and playing to no one. So part of the key of this is how artists can interact with each other and put together bills,” he said.
“The whole covid era has been hard on lots of industries and none more than music and performing arts.
“For us to use this time to help build connections between musicians, between venues, between councils … this Regional Touring Network website is a really beautiful fruition of all that.”
